Temperament Testing

Each puppy is tested to see how friendly and forgiving it is to a stranger.  Pain tolerance, ball or play drive, prey drive, sound sensitivity and intelligence is also tested.  Puppy temperament testing is strictly a GUIDE for the breeder--many factors can affect the results of the test:  weather, illness, time of day, distractions from visitors.  We invite potential buyers to watch the testing and usually after the testing, final decisions will be made in the puppy selection process.

At eight weeks of age my puppies go to their new homes.  Most will be picked up by their new families, others will stay with me a little longer and be shipped to their new homes across the U.S.  Putting a puppy on an airplane is a very difficult task for me to do, but occasionally it is necessary as there is no other way to get a puppy to their new home in a timely manner.  The puppies that I have shipped in the past have all arrived safe and sound and thrilled to meet their new families.  Prior to shipping they under go another health check and must obtain a health certificate for flying, and also a special airline crate for the trip.
     
  HOME WITH THEIR NEW FAMILIES  
I stay in very close contact with my families and would like to be aware of any problems or concerns they might have about their new family member.  I love to watch my puppies grow into adults.  This past summer we had our first puppy reunion of the first litter Chewie/Rebel.  It was a great time for all.  Five of the seven puppies returned for the picnic.  CGC testing with gunfire was done (by a visiting breeder) and other paperwork required for final registration was done, along with lots of socialization of dogs and families.  It was a fun day for all involved--I believe we had a total of 11 Shiloh's visiting that day.
