  Raising Puppies

P&C's Ridgewood Shiloh Shepherds raise approximately one to two litters of puppies a year.  We take raising puppies very seriously.  I am a Registered Nurse and work part-time night shift.  My husband is retired.  When I have a litter of puppies I take a "maternity leave" to be with my puppies 24 hours a day. I sleep in the nursery from the time they are born until they leave me--even during crate training!!!!

I try to include puppy buyers in the whole process of the birth and first eight weeks of their puppy's growth.  I update this web site weekly from the time the pups are born so you can see the litter grow.  Of course, you are always welcome to visit us as the litter is growing (or any other time). This all starts with the actually breeding of the sire and dam.  When my female comes into heat, I notify you and also let you know how the breeding progressed.  Thirty days after the breeding I take the female in for an ultrasound to confirm pregnancy.

I also start getting the nursery ready for the upcoming litter.  Cleaning and disinfecting everything.   Then we wait for the big day.

Approximately 63 days after the mating--puppies!!!
